The City of Rock Falls has concluded that they need to get rid of the old and bring in the new. During the most recent City Council meeting, the members voted the approval of the replacing of an aging manhole in the city. City Administrator said the 100-year-old manhole needs a complete rebuild.
Blackert said the old one is made of brick and is crumbling.
The contract was approved for Behren’s Trucking & Excavation for the job at East 4th Street and Avenue C. The cost is $26,800.
In other news, the council approved the hire of an assistant for the tourism department. They also approved the hire of two part-time employees for the upcoming events.
