The Lee County Government has placed several recycling drop off sites around the county. At the Dixon drop-off, the county is finding people continue to abuse the site.
During the most recent Lee County Board Executive Meeting, Board Member Jim Schielein said he has seen couches and many other things there that do not belong.
County Administrator Jeremy England told the members that he has been in discussion with the city about working together to solve the problem. This would include more patrols by the city as well as better signage put up by the city letting people know what is allowed and what is not.
England said they hope to create an Intergovernmental agreement with the city. The worst-case scenario would be the removal of the Dixon Recycling Drop-off.
