What is Discover Dixon doing to assist the City of Dixon?
During the most recent City Council meeting, Discover Dixon Executive Director Amanda Wike gave a complete report of their plans and accomplishments. Much of their efforts is to get people from out of the area to come to Dixon.
She pointed out that since the Tru by Hilton opened, they have seen an increase in the number of overnight stay.
She said they are reaching to the areas such as Peoria, Chicago, St. Louis, Madison and Milwaukee. The number of clicks on the website has jumped.
Wike also said every event saw an increase in attendance. However, it was further pointed out that the attendance number to be under counted,. This is because the software they use does not count children.
Discover Dixon also received the Governor’s Award for Excellence and they will be hosting the Main Street Conference later this year.
