At the most recent Oregon City Council meeting held Tuesday night, there were a few presentations.

Mayor Ken Williams declared May as Motorcycle Awareness Month and read a proclamation. Oregon Police Chief Matt Kalnins introduced Police Officer Eric Higby who was promoted to Sergeant.

Williams recognized city council member Kurt Wilson who served 10 years on the council and lost his reelection bid. City Manager Darrin DeHaan said that he will be missed.

In other news, the council heard a first reading to require public demonstration groups to apply for a permit. DeHaan explained that it will help the city to prepare and not over tax ambulance or law enforcement in the event they are needed. Another ordinance that would amend a city code in regard to certain types of fences was tabled until council members can gather more information.
