At about 5:00 PM on Monday, the Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a shooting following a domestic incident.
Deputies arrived at 1 South Ogle, Apartment 13 in Mount Morris. They discover 25-year-old Cameron Pasley in the residence with multiple gunshot wounds. Pasley was taken to Saint Katherine’s OSF in Dixon where he was later pronounced deceased.
Deputies identified the alleged shooter a short distance from the scene. Deputies say 44-year-old Derek Swanlund was taken into custody without incident. Swanlund is being held at the Ogle County Jail charged with 1sr Degree Murder. Additional charges are coming, said authorities.
The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office, Polo Police, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services and the Mount Morris Fire Protection District assisted Mt. Morris Police.
