What is the Industrial Development outlook for the city of Dixon?

Lee County Industrial Development Association Director Tom Demmer came before the Dixon City Council during Mondays City Council Meeting.  He particularly spoke of interest the city has received concerning to parcels of land.  Both are about 220 acres in size.

Demmer also said the two parcels are now in the states Vetted Sites Program.  This means the state would be marketing the property for the city.  He called that a feather in the cap for the city.

Demmer did speak of drawbacks to the two pieces of property.  One is the lack of rail access needed for heavy industry.  The other is the lack of being able to tie into a high voltage system.  He said data centers are looking for areas and they require a great amount of energy.

He also spoke of other interest but he could not speak about them.
