Lee County has been working alone as well as with area communities to deal with abandoned and nuisance properties.
According to County Administrator Jeremy England, the next building in their sights is the Eldena Infirmary. He stated they have been trying to work with the building owner.
England also spoke of the Lee Center School. He reported volunteers did a very good job of cleaning up the property. He said the owner is seeking to turn the building into apartments. England said with the need for housing, this was good news for the county.
Another bit of good news had to deal with the Eldena School. England said the building was recently purposed. This new owner is a business from DeKalb. The new owners plan to remove the ends of the school and use the main hallway for offices and shops.
