Rock Falls Electric Department Given National Recognition

The Rock Falls City Council met in session Tuesday night and Mayor Rod Kleckler got things rolling by presenting a proclamation to Kaela Jacobson, Prevention Coordinator Crisis Services for the YWCA of the Sauk Valley declaring April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

The council approved a carnival license for WFS Attractions for the St. Andrews School Carnival. City Administrator Robbin Blackert made everyone aware in the chamber that Rock Falls Electrical Department received national attention.

The award was given for achieving exceptional electric reliability in 2024. The American Public Power Association, a trade group that represents more than 2 thousand not for profit community owned electric utilities put Rock Falls in the top 25 percent of the country for electric reliability.

In other news, the council approved the mayor’s appointment of Brian Snow to the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners to fill an unexpired term from May 1, 2025, May 31, 2027.
