The Dixon VFW Post 540 is hosting a Vietnam Veterans 50 year event on Saturday, April 26th. This will include a Parade of Vietnam Veterans. The Dixon VFW Post 540 is look for Vietnam Veterans that live in Lee, Ogle and Whiteside Counties to contact Tom Bushman at 815-288-7085.
This is a parade that will be held in Dixon and serves as Welcome Home and Thank You for the Veterans that didn’t get this welcome home from the Vietnam War over 50 years ago.
The event starts on Saturday, April 26th at 11am with a ride along parade. The parade will begin behind Culvers in Dixon, proceed south on Galena Avenue to the Dixon VFW Post on Route 38 just east of Dixon. The Vietnam Veterans and their partners will be treated to lunch and a special celebration. People are asked to lineup on Galena Ave and encouraged to make posters, banners or bring an American flag.
