The City of Dixon continues its attempts to receive grant funding for projects around town.

Earlier, the city received a $2 million grant from Congressman LaHood.  During the Dixon City Council meeting Monday evening, the members were informed of a grant the city is seeking.  This is for $5.9 million from Senator Dick Durbin.

City Manager Dan Langloss said the money would be used to complete the work on the Bloody Gulch Park.  This is the 40 acres of land donated to the city by the Fulfs Family.  Langloss said this would be a perfect place to connect all of the city paths.

He also said the major portion of the money would be the construction of the retention pond.  This pond is planned to deal with the problem of flooding at Fargo Creek.
