On Monday afternoon, March 31, Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Illinois Rte 52 and Freeport Road.
After an investigation it was determined that a Ford Explorer being driven by 55-year-old Kenneth Vandermolen of Caroga Lake, NY, was northbound on Freeport Road and failed to yield the right of way to a Jeep Wrangler traveling west on Illinois Rte 52. 72-year-old Dennis White of Dubuque Ia. was driving the Jeep.
White was transported to St. Katharine Hospital in Dixon for injuries sustained in the accident were he was treated and released. Vandermolen and his passenger were uninjured and refused medical attention at the scene.
Vandermolen was issued a citation for failure to yield right of way at an intersection and is due to appear in Ogle County Court later this month.
