In the City of Sterling, Main Street have been putting up flower baskets throughout downtown for the last several years.
During the most recent Sterling City Council Meeting, Executive Director Janna Groharing stated the flower baskets were beautiful last year and they would be beautiful this year as well.
Then Groharing stated, this might be the last year for the baskets. The reason for this is the donations for the upkeep of the baskets are down and they are expensive to maintain.
Groharing said people have said they should get volunteers. Groharing then asks the question if they know of anyone willing to give three hours a day, 7 days a week for 19 weeks.
She also said that maintaining and watering the baskets is not a matter of spaying some water and moving on. There is a process to make sure the baskets are taken care of.
