Things are warming up and people are beginning to think of basketball, baseball and other activities outdoors.
Dixon Park District Executive Director Duane Long said one outdoor winter amenity actually was busy this year. Long said they had nearly three weeks available for ice-skating at the skating rink.
Earlier in February, Long thought the ice skating rink was finished for the year. Then a cold front, plunging temperatures in the Sauk Valley to below freezing. Because of this, it allowed the district to keep the rink open longer.
The rink is free to the public with free skates and other thing to enjoy.
