Every year when the City of Dixon begins to construct the yearly budget, they get requests for finances from several departments and groups. One of the group that comes to the city are the non-profits.
The Stage Left came and asked for an increase from $5,000 to $20,000. Later, the Council members said they had questions concerning Stage Left. Due to these questions, they would hold any funds to them.
During the recent Dixon City Council meeting, Stage Left Director Scott Fatisi came to try to answer those questions. He spoke of using the money for production costs and work on their new theatre was signed off on by the city several months ago.
He also said to the members that during the winter months, it is the arts that bring people to Dixon.
Stage Left is undergoing a major construction of new venue. They will begin a new season; however, the performances would be done at other venues.
The hope is to open the new theatre at the beginning of 2026. It is a slim possibility it would open on October of 2025.
