The Sterling Fire Department has a problem. They recently informed the City Council that every one of their vehicles would need to be replaced and a plan needs to be created.
During the City Council meeting this past Monday, Deputy Fire Chief David Northcutt reported to the members the department wants to purchase a brand new aerial fire truck. It is called a King Cobra.
Northcutt told the council they have several vehicles that need to be replace, however, this aerial truck is the number one priority.
The cost of the very large vehicle is $1.9 million. In order to pay for the brand new truck the department estimates they could get $500,000 from the sale of the old aerial truck.
The rest would be coming from the Capital Reserve Fund. The City Council will make a decision at their next meeting.
