Many communities are realizing the importance of good and safe sidewalks throughout their community. Oregon is one of those communities.
During the most recent Oregon City Council meeting, Mayor Ken Williams spoke of the walk-ability program the city has. Part of this is improving and installing sidewalks around town.
The mayors pointed out the city have the equipment to do the work themselves.
He went on to say the city would be obeying all of the sidewalk regulations from the American with Disability Act. One of those requirements is a width of 60 inches. This for the sight impaired who walk with a cane. This would provide a uniform walking area.
Mayor Williams said the city has good sidewalks downtown and they need to export those good sidewalks to the rest of Oregon.
