Dixon Park Board Told if You Build It They Would Come

Borrowing from the Field of Dreams movie, Head of the Sauk Valley Disc Golf Brent Reuter said to Dixon Park Board members during their meeting Wednesday, “If you build it, they would come.”

What he is referring to is the proposed installation of nine more disc golf holes at Lowell Park.  This would be installed behind the shelters in the wooded area.

Reuter claimed to install the disc golf; they would mostly be removing dead trees and growth.  Executive Director Duane Long stated he did not see a problem and the board wants to see a map of proposed tree removals.

Reuter said the area disc golf sites have had visitors from 25 states and 1 country.  He also said Page Park gets far more players because it is an 18-hole course.  Lowell Park has only nine holes.

The group would be paying for the creation of the course.  The Park District would be providing very little in the way of material, said Long.
