About a month ago, the city of Sterling decided they needed to hire a lobbyist to get a couple of important bills passed by the Illinois Legislation. The legislation that needs state approval is the Rivers Edge Redevelopment.
During the Tuesday evening City Council meeting, Matthew Hughes of MRH Solutions gave an update. He said the deadlines for the legislation is at the end of March.
The legislation has been assigned to committees in the Senate and in the Illinois House of Representatives. The city would be needed to speak before each committee.
Hughes said he would have no problem speaking for the city. He went on to say the bills had an add-on from the Alton area. This is for that representative’s district. He said this would help get the bills passed.
