Dixon School Board Approves New Three Year Contract

By George Howe Feb 19, 2025 | 7:10 PM

A moment of silence was held at the Dixon School Board meeting on Wednesday night for two former Dixon educators, Roxie Mahan, and Louise Corken who both passed away in the last two weeks.

School Superintendent Margo Empen said that everyone wanted to recognize the two ladies and to let them know that they are missed.

The first reading of board policies and the revised non-union educational support employee handbook were approved under action items.

The board was also asked and did approve the Dixon Collective Bargaining Agreement. Empen feels that this three-year contract should continue to bring the best and the brightest teachers to the district.

In other news, the process is underway to find a replacement for Empen who will be retiring after the 2026 school year. A survey has been sent out to faculty, teachers, and parents asking what kind of characteristics they would like to see in the new superintendent.

The survey is also available on the district website until February 28. Additional action items included approving the health life safety amendment for RMS frames and doors.
