The Dixon Park District has the skating rink at Page Park. However, Executive Director Duane Long was not sure if the skating rink would be open for skating anymore this year.
When we had warmer temperatures, it turned the rink into a pond, said Long. The rink needs several days of freezing weather to make the ice hard enough to use. Long then said they need temperatures in the upper 20’s for people to come out and skate.
With the current cold weather, Long now says the ICE Rink would reopen next week. Long said they are happy with the ice rink this year. During this past year, the ice skating rink saw 11 days fit for use. Long said that the winter before they only had the rink open for 3 days.
