Many Cities are looking for ways to improve their infrastructure as well as how to pay for them.

During the most recent Sterling City Council meeting, the members voted with the hope this would lead to the availability of funds to get some roadwork done.

The council voted to declare Lefevre Road from the City Limits to Lynn Boulevard a Class II Truck Route.  The work would be a repaving of Lefevre Road and the council was told that some of the material used would be recycled from the current road.

City Manager Scott Schumard said the council vote for a joint agreement between Whiteside County Highway Department and the city.  The county would be the lead group for the project and the hope is to gain federal grants in the form of TARP funds.

The council approved both business items.
