Five Persons Hospitalized, One With Life Threatening Injuries, Following Two Vehicle Crash

On Wednesday morning, January 22, Ogle County Deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident with multiple injuries at the intersection of IL Rte. 64 and Freeport Road.

Upon arrival, Deputies learned that a Toyota Camry, driven by 19-year-old Breydan Lowery of Rochelle was traveling westbound on IL Rte. 64 while approaching the Freeport Road intersection.

A Ford Transit van, driven by 45-year-old Chad Harsen of South Beloit was traveling southbound on Freeport Road and traveling through the stop intersection without stopping before striking the Toyota on the passenger side.  Both vehicles continued into the southwest ditch before coming to rest.

Polo EMS transported Lowery to OSF Saint Katharine Hospital in Dixon for minor injuries. Lanark EMS transported Harsen to CGH Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.  Forreston EMS transported the front seat passenger in the Toyota, 19-year-old Trey Taft of Rochelle to KSB Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Mt. Morris EMS transported a rear passenger in the Toyota a 17 yr. old male juvenile of Creston to CGH Hospital for life-threatening injuries.  OSF Life Flight helicopter also transported another rear passenger in the Toyota, a 17 yr. old male juvenile of Rochelle to OSF Saint Anthony’s Hospital.

Polo Police Department helped assist with the accident. The accident remains under investigation.
